One of the the many misconceptions about petite sizes is that you have to be some tiny little thing to qualify. It is almost a conspiracy if you think about it, just ask anyone in the department stores and you will find they aren't purvey as to what clothing petite size actually represents or means. So, if the young lady at the clothing store doesn't know then who does?

In truth the designation petite size refers to height, not girth: so, with that said, women under 5' 4" are considered petite, no matter if there size is 24 or 4. This obviously raises many questions when women are out searching for petite clothing.

For instance, although many shorter women's main concern is about how womens petite size clothing is going to fit. Such things like pants that aren't going to drag on the floor and shirts which the sleeves are the right length. Also, when trying to make the right selection from womens petite sizes  there are issues of color and proportion that make this a daunting task.

When it was announced that Terrence Howard was out of "Iron Man 2" and that Don Cheadle would be taking over the role of James "Rhodey" Rhodes, the question on most observers' minds was "Why?" The first film was an enormous success, turning a little-known Marvel Comics character into a household name and raking in $318 million domestically. Howard received solid reviews for his work in the film. And the movie itself seemed to indicate that Rhodey would have a bigger part in the sequel when he looked at the silver Mark II suits and said to himself, "Next time, baby."

Terrence Howard himself seemed at a loss as to why he was replaced, telling NPR that getting the news was "the surprise of a lifetime." Initial reports said that negotiations between Howard's representatives and Marvel Studios "fell through over financial differences," but a recent article in Entertainment Weekly suggests it was more complicated than that.

Howard was the first actor signed to the film and, on top of that, was the highest-paid. That's right: more than Gwyneth Paltrow. More than Jeff Bridges. More than Robert Downey Jr. And once the project fully came together, it was too late to renegotiate his deal. Read the full article >>

Director Jon Favreau told Ain't It Cool News before shooting even began that he had cast Howard with the intention of giving Rhodey a bigger role in the sequels, eventually getting his own suit of mechanized armor to become "War Machine." But according to EW's source, "Favreau and his producers were ultimately unhappy with Howard's performance, and spent a lot of time cutting and reshooting his scenes."

Here is a few tips for people looking for fast turnaround screen printed t-shirts. (These advises are for people looking for fast screen printed t-shirts instead of digitally printed t-shirts. Digitally printed t-shirts are done in a different process than screen print t-shirts, they have the advantage in speeding up the process since they do not need color separation and screen burning process. However screen printed t-shirts have better imprint color quality as well as better imprint longevity.)

Here is a check list for you to speed up your custom t-shirts job.

How ready is your artwork? Artwork can be categorized into 2 groups based on their origins. First are scanned images and second are computer generated images. In the first group, paintings, photographs, printed materials or the similar are scanned and save as digital files of your artwork. Quality of your digital artwork has a lot to do with your scanning resolution. Normal requirement is 300 dpi (dot per inch). However keep in mind that your reproductions will not be better than your originals. So no matter how high your scanning resolution is, you are simply not getting a better reproduction image if your original is not. So in a nutshell for people using this group of artwork, find the best quality original you can. Scan it at 300 dpi or better. Save it and send it to your printer without re-sizing it. The file size of your scanned image will potentially be big. However, supportive printer should be able to accommodate your file sending by either increasing the mail box size or arrange a FTP transfer for you. In the second group, computer generated images, we have 2 sub-groups which are raster images and vector images. Raster images are resolution dependant images such formats as tiff, jpg, psd.

The only requirement for this group is to make sure they are created in actual imprint size (or close to actual imprint size), and are in 300 dpi as original resolution (not resample resolution). The file size of this sub-group is potentially big, make sure you talk to your printers about the size of your artwork file before sending. The second sub-group is called vector based images such formats as ai, eps. They are resizable, non-resolution dependent artwork. Their file size are usually reasonable. They are very welcome by most printers due to their non-resolution dependent nature. When you submit vector based images, just make sure you create outlines for your type (so your printer won’t run into missing font problem when opening your artwork), your image is created at actual size or close to actual size. And of course if you have a printer who is knowledgeable and capable in preparing artwork for you for a reasonable cost, that could be your best bet in making sure you don’t waste time going back and forth on artwork format and requirement with your printer.

Do you know the type of shirts you want? There are many choices of shirts you can get . Make sure you did your homework and know what you want when placing an order for your custom t-shirts. If you just want basic t-shirts, it is pretty simple. Even though there are many brands of basic t-shirts, they are normally in 2 classes of fabric weight, 5.6 oz and 6.1 oz. Then you have pocket and non-pocket t-shirts for each weight, as well as long sleeve and short sleeve t-shirts. Beside basic t-shirts, you will have fashion fitting t-shirts such as American Apparel and Tultex, these are slimmer fitting than the basic t-shirts. They are in ring-spun 30 single fine jersey fabric, meaning softer and finer fabric. Then we have even more choices for girls and ladies t-shirts such as cap sleeve, raglan 3/4 sleeve, scoop neck, boys beater tank tops, baby doll spaghetti, ringer t-shirts, camouflage t-shirts etc…

Do you research on t-shirt styles ahead of time will not only save you time, it will allow you to find the best style for your event.

If your custom t-shirts job requires individual names or numbers printed (such as team numbers), prepare a list to indicate the names or numbers and their sizes to expedite the process.

If there is dead line to meet, make sure your printer is aware of it as well as taken shipping time into consideration.

If you are under press of time and without artwork. Ask if your printer has any kind of ready art library that you can pick and ask them to modify to fit your requirement. It will be much faster than having yourselves starting from scratch.

Give your printer the Pantone number to indicate your imprint color when submitting your t-shirts order. This will save some time in communication and help speeding up your order.

Your printer should provide a paper proof for you to review the accuracy of your custom screen print t-shirt order. As soon as you finish your review, get back to your printer immediately so they can process your order right away.

Last but not least, there are shipping options such as 3-day select, 2nd day air and next day air to accommodate your need in speed. Ask for full price quote with different shipping options from your printer.

During the past ten years of screen printing business, I was fortunate enough to work with many talented t-shirt graphic designers.  Many of them were highly specialized in their fields.  Even though specialization doesn't always benefit them in our dynamic clothing business,  they really master what they devoted themselves over time.  Among many designs, dragons are always my favorite.  Below are some samples of what we have done in the past.  All prints were done in silk screen printing.  Color separations were either manually done in channels or by Simulated Process.  Production were done with M&R automatic 14-color press.

It is common for most men to face dilemma in mens fashion coordination. Our typical questions are:

How to match colors for mens dress shirts and mens dress pants?
How to coordinate checks with stripes?
What are the colors suitable between my suits and ties?
Are the colors and patterns matching my suits and ties?

These questions kept popping up because men generally has a poorer power of visualization than women. Men can not imagine the way things look like based on the colors and patterns through imagination. So there is a strong reliance for pictures to provide guidance for men's dressing.

Therefore, I will attempt to address these concerns and provide the fundamental information necessary to achieve the best coordination. When we look at color coordination, there are two aspects to focus on: Coordinating mens clothing against our complexion and creating color harmony between different hues and shades.

1 – Know your body shape

Petite women should avoid chunky clothes and strong prints. Instead go for fitted shapes and soft fabrics, narrow belts subtle contrasts of colour and texture. Keep everything streamlined so as not to cut the body in half.
Busty women should wear eye-catching skirts (shorter if you are comfortable) and trousers, strong prints and colours or textures draw the eye away from the top half of the body. Wearing a single block of colour is thinning. Avoid eye-catching tops, instead wear long jackets that draw the eye down. Darker coloured tops which are loose fitting and waist hugging.
Pear shaped women should love vertical lines, V-necks and skirts with slits up the side. Straight of A-line skirts to just below the knee. Dark tights and shoes with colour or pattern in a blouse or top, tops should hang past the hips. Classic cuts on top in lighter colours draw the eye away from the hips. Accent the V-neck with a V or Y- shaped necklace.
Tall women should avoid tight clothes. Wear the right skirt length, too short or too long will be out of proportion. As with petite women keep everything streamlined, wear blouses over trousers so as not to shorten your top half.
Rectangular women should wear pattern. Feminine knit sweaters over skirts are great. Wear a round neckline and mirror it with a round necklace or scarf.
2 – Dress to suit your personality

Rock chick – accessorize and clash a little but keep it feminine.

Urban chic – take advantage of the wonderful high street fashion, stunning yet simple.

Sporty – Layer trendy casual clothes.

Arty – Taking the contemporary fashion and adding a dash of your own personality to spice things up.

Sexy – Sensual fabrics, curvy and delicious. A splash of colour and scent.

Retro chic – Great accessories, and a flare for those classic, all time looks.

Romantic – Classic cuts, tailoring and soft colours, lace, embroidery and pearls.
3 – The right accessories can make all the difference

- V and Y shaped necklaces draw the eye down

- Round necklaces fill the neckline

- Ultra long earrings elongate the neck

- A long, trailing belt elongates the legs

- The right hat can make an outfit

- Cocktail rings add fun and colour and a bit of sparkle to a casual outfit

- Scarves can be arty

- A matching jewellery set can bring an outfit together
4 – Wake up to make up

Women come in all shapes and sizes. Each one has their own challenges when it comes to what to finding what to wear. The good news is whatever type of body you have, there are some tips to look for to help your particular body type look its best.

Some standard classifications

  • Misses: 00-18, often running 2-14 and varies greatly with each manufacturer
  • Petite: generally 5'4" and under
  • Plus: on average, size 14w-24w and over
  • Tall: generally 5'9" and over

Not too long ago US standard clothing sizes were based off data from the 1940-1950s which created a universal sizing standard across the clothing industry. Around the 1980's, clothing companies started veering towards sizing that would be more appealing to consumers and started adopting the US catalog sizes which are nearly 6 sizes larger. A size 12 in the 40s would be today's 6. This change of course has left North America's sizing for apparel a lot of room for inconsistency.

source: Wikipedia US_standard_clothing_size#Conversion_from_catalog_sizes

Helpful things to remember for sizes

Petites: Petites have three important measurements to know for their pant sizing; inseam, waist and length. Petites sizes are often assumed to just be shorter legs when in fact it's the whole package of other measurements that need to be accounted for. For example, thinner belts and smaller accessories work well for petites.

Talls: A person who is 5'9" won't always mean they are going to wear a tall size. Someone may get their height by being longer waisted and feel better in a tall's shirt and have shorter legs and still fit most misses pants. It's important to note the inseam and when possible check the inseam for the product you are interested in. I'm 5'9" and fluctuate between tall's and misses on a regular basis. Nothing is worse than floods when they are not capris!

Plus: Plus sizes will want to make sure they are buying clothes that fit the shape rather than try to hide it. Too often people wear baggy clothes which gives the illusion of larger. Plus sizes your measurements and size accordingly.

Balancing it all out

Bottom heavy (pear):

  • dark on the bottom is more slimming, a lighter top will draw the eye upwards
  • create a long line by using a uniform color for the top and bottom
  • make sure fitted jackets end above your widest part
  • invest in a flattering pair of low waisted jeans with a little stretch. Avoid too much glam on the pockets. Keep the cut to straight leg without pleats.
  • wear clothes that are cut to fit your shape vs. fabrics that drape or cling to it
  • draw the eye to your top with accessories, an attractive neckline or other embellishments
  • look for empire waisted dresses to help draw a longer looking line
  • swimsuits with a normal to high cut leg, a skirted bottom. Stick to darks on the bottom, light on top to help fool the eye.
  • stripes down the sides of athletic shorts and pants give a flattering illusion of length
  • thin strapped or strapless tops work great at drawing attention away from larger bottoms

General rule: Draw the eye to the top half. Two great ways to do this are to draw the eye upwards with brighter/lighter colors on top, darker on the bottom. Another great way is to create a sense of length with a monochromatic uniform color throughout the outfit.

Several years ago, plus size women searched and searched for trendy clothing, but there was none to be found. Fortunately, full-figured women rebelled against the monotony. Women of the world collaborated to reject the hideous, out dated clothing most retailers were trying to force upon us. Luckily, the fight for fashionable, plus size clothing was not in vain.

Due to the success of online stores offering plus size clothing, brick and mortar retailers are comprehending that plus size women are a profitable target market. Retailers are realizing that a large number of customers need trendy, plus size clothing, as well as, the monetary revenues our segment yields.

Recently, market researchers estimated 61 percent of the United States' population is overweight. In addition, an estimated 50 percent of women wear a size 14 or higher. It is time that the fashion industry acknowledges that their perspective - "thin is in" - is unjust, because being plus size is not exactly out.

The growing popularity of full-figured women in the entertainment industry, continues to support the notion that plus size women are a permanent fixture. Not only are the curvy women of entertainment starring in blockbuster movies, but they are also choreographing and winning modeling contests on highly-viewed, reality shows. SCREEN PRINTING is done in plastisol direct print method for long lasting result. No heat transfer process is applied. All screen prints are cured by gas dryers in order to provide consistent and through ink curing process. Final price of your customized screen print garment depends a lot on your order quantity and amount of colors and locations. Less quantity with more colors and locations will give you higher overhead on each shirt. Higher quantity with less colors and locations will give you lower overhead on each shirt. EMBROIDERED garments are priced for upto 6000 stitches. If your design requires extra stitches, a seperate quotation will be sent upon receiving your artwork. The amount of colors (1-4) does not affect the price. Happy shopping!

Color changing technology by PhotoChromic inks has been around the custom screen print and advertising industries for over a decade. The reason that this technology is still very popular among advertisers in custom screen print industry is the magical transformation of colors. This series of PhotoChromic colors come in basic colors such as red, blue, yellow, green and purple. When these colors are indoor and not exposed to ultraviolet light, they are almost colorless. However, when they are exposed to ultraviolet light (including sunlight) they will gradually turn into their own colors. The stronger light and longer expose duration, the higher the intensity of the colors. And of course there are limits as everything else, the colors will not increase their intensity after they reach their limits. PhotoChromic inks work the best with white t-shirts. However they also work with light color t-shirts such as natural. You would also want to take advantage of the magical color change by screen printing only a black and white image for the indoor image and leaves all the colors as PhotoChromic colors so they will only appear outdoor. In this way you optimize the color transformation between a black and white image and a full color image. We recommend PhotoChromic’s color changing technology for all outdoor events on t-shirts, sweatshirts and sportshirts. Imagine when your guests witness the magical color change. For sure that’s going to leave a long impression to them.

REAL WOMEN

The first step is to understand and feel comfortable with your body shape and coloring.

If we're to believe what we see on television or read in fashion magazines, "normal" women appear to be a size 8-10 (US 6-8), 180 centimeters (5'9") tall, have a perky 12B bust and are aged 18.

Hmmmmm. In reality, it's more like this.

  • In Australia, the average woman is actually size 16 (US14), about 165 cms (5'4") tall and weighs 74kg, wears a 14D bra and is 37.
  • The average American woman wears a size 14 (UK16) dress, is 5'5" (166 cms) tall, weighs 142 lbs (75kg) and is 44 years old.
  • In the UK the average woman wears a size 14 (US12) is 5'3" (162 cms) tall, weighs 147 pounds (66 kg) and is 38.

Research by beauty company Dove shows today's models weigh an average of 23 per cent less than the average woman. Twenty years ago, that difference was 8 per cent.

Sydney University Lecturer, Dr Jenny O'Dea, an expert in women's body attitudes, studied the Dove research results and in conjunction with her own research stated: "Women all around the world are faced with pressure to conform to extremely narrowly defined ideals of beauty. The ideal in Western countries is an unachievable level of idealized perfection that includes a dangerously low body weight; an unnaturally young age of perceived beauty (for example often pre adolescent, pre pubescent); unblemished skin (no lines, freckles, spots, moles or acne marks); and often, racist in that it defines beauty very narrowly - the slim, white woman with blonde hair."

So the most important lesson for all of is - embrace your looks and body because you are normal! Real women are beautiful. Real women are not underweight or underage. Every woman deserves to feel beautiful, just the way she is.

BODY SHAPE BASICS

So, what about your body shape?

It's important to understand your basic body shape so you know what type of clothes are going to suit you best. There are six classic horizontal body shapes and three vertical shapes. You may not fit exactly into one of the shapes, you may be a hybrid of two or perhaps three. In that case it's a good idea to learn as much as you can about each of the shapes so you start to get an idea of the negative and positive aspects.

The Triangle (or Pear) Shape is the most common shape for women. You and millions of others lament, "My hips are too big. My butt sticks out too far. These jeans don't fit in the waist!" If this sounds familiar, you are a triangle. You also may be a triangle if you feel insecure about the size of your bust. In other words your hips may not be overly large but your bust is smaller in proportion.

  • You need to balance your hips by widening your shoulders.
  • Tops with horizontal stripes or jackets with small shoulder pads can give more visual width to the top half of your body and bring the lower body half into balance.
  • There's also several rules you need to follow for top and jacket lengths, and skirt and pant styles.

Inverted Triangles are just that - an upside down triangle who is wider through the shoulders and sometimes the bust and narrower at the waistline and hips. Often, women with this body shape are naturally athletic. Many inverted triangles who are short have a large bust line, while others are slim and tall and just have wide shoulders.

Dressing appropriately for job interviews is one of those areas that puzzles some people.

Should you dress conservatively or wear casual attire?

What colors work best?

What types of shoes should you wear?

As a rule, you should dress conservatively for most job interviews. Remember, you only get one shot at making a good first impression.

Here are some basic dress for success tips:

  • Research how people in a particular field/organization dress and then dress accordingly. If you’re not sure what the dress code is, dress conservatively.
  • Conservative formal dress consists of a suit (gray, navy, or black) with a nice dress shirt/blouse. Shoes should be dark and well-shined. Women can also wear a tailored dress with or without a jacket. Pumps with low to medium heels are best.
  • Business casual is a more relaxed look for both men and women. Casual interview wear can consist of a sports coat or jacket with pants or a skirt in an attractive contrasting color. Think: Navy blazer with khaki pants, etc. Add a casual shirt or turtleneck to complete the look.

If you are look for business attire, buying mens clothing takes a bit of planning. From mens suits to dress shirts, you have to know when and where to shop, to get the best value and quality for your money.

Here are some tips to make your shopping easy and successful.

1. Scheduling: Give yourself enough time to shop in a relax manner. When you are in a rush, you are more likely to make a shopping mistake. Avoid shopping when you are exhausted emotionally or physically. Have a good breakfast or lunch before you shop, and factor in breaks to refresh. Shopping doesn't have to be an exhausting marathon.

2. Look for quality: Think about long-term wear, or amortization. If you need a suit for work, invest in high-caliber fabrics and suits that are well made. You'll get years of wear, and always look sharp. The initial sticker-shock will turn into a better investment than a cheaper suit that doesn't wear well, and gets thrown out sooner.

3. Know your power colors: Power colors are the rich, deep shades that project a powerful business image. They include black, charcoal grey and navy. Decide which of these colors is the best neutral for your business garments. This reduces the number of shoe and accessory colors you'll need to present a powerful image.

4. Get expert help: Look for an upscale men's store that gives personal service. Even if you don't buy anything there at first, you'll get a feel for what a quality suit looks like, and how it fits you. You may be able to start with one good item, such as a shirt or tie. When you have more money to spend, you can return for other wardrobe elements.
